Ziyi will star in ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters’

Good news or bad news?

Zhang Ziyi is set join Legendary’s Monsterverse in a major franchise role, beginning with the next “Godzilla” film, “Godzilla: King of the Monsters.” The Beijing-born actress will star opposite Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, and Ken Watanabe.

The film is set several years after the events of the 2014 “Godzilla,” and her character is a significant figure within the covert Monarch organization established in that film.

“Godzilla: King of the Monsters” hits theaters on March 22, 2019, with the monster mash-up “Godzilla vs. Kong” slated to bow the following year on May 22, 2020.

36th Hong Kong Film Awards

Ziyi just attended the 36th Hong Kong Film Awards. Some pictures were added to the gallery.

Ziyi was nominated for a third time at the China Film Director’s Guild Awards for her work in The Wasted Times. The ceremony will take place later this month.

The Wasted Times Beijing Premiere

On December 13th, Ziyi joined the cast of her latest film The Wasted Times for its premiere in Beijing. The release of the film is tomorrow, but several chinese renowned film critics, directors, and actors have already expressed their love for the film. Guan Hu, Cao Baoping, Liao Fan, Zhang Yibai and Li Shaohong are among that list of chinese personalities who praised the film.

Tomorrow, Ziyi will attend the 2016 Elle Style Awards in China.

On August 18th, Ziyi was in Shanghai to attend a press conference for The Wasted Times. She seemed more than happy to join other cast members of the film for this promotional event.
