The film has finished shooting, but it will be in post production for few month after this. It will be released in Japan in May 2005 distributed by Nippon Herald co.Ltd.

According to this report; Jo Odagiri (actor who is known for Bright Future, 2003 and Azumi,2003) said, “Each individual scene leaves a strong impression printed on mind. But I’m wondering how it is all connected? ”

Zhang Ziyi said, “This film is, for me, a new type which is different from what I’ve ever done “. About Japanese dialogue which she spoked in film, “I had to do rote memorization.Since a mistake in one word meant none of it could be understood, it was serious”.

The director said, “She is a global actress and has a good intuition. I have no complaint at all”. He has extolled her.

Story
Jo Odagiri as Amechiyo (The banished prince) fall in love with Zhang Ziyi as Tanukihime (a princess of raccoon dog disguised to human) It seems that it’s a costume play including comedy, singing and dancing with the sweetest love story.

There were very popular musical “Tanukigoten” films in Japan from 1939 to 1950’s, which were mainly directed by Keigo Kimura.

Seijun Suzuki born in 1923, who has known for his highly stylized portraying of gang violence in 50’s-60’s and artistic images of literary films in 80’s, he had dreamed to make this musical film for 40 years.
